Overall, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle is a really sweet funny time with great acting for a comedy, a really good soundtrack, I can’t really relate to the White Castle part because I live in Texas and there’s White Castle’s nowhere and I’ve never been to one (now I want to though), and now I want to watch the 2 sequels, I’ll try to before the end of the year. Also Ryan Reynolds is in the film for like 2 minutes and he’s great because Ryan Reynolds. Paula Garcés is very cute and spunky as Maria (the whole movie I knew I recognized her from somewhere) but I didn’t know until I looked at her filmography and guess what, it’s bloody clockstoppers! Also Eddie Kaye Thomas is an actor who never truly really exited the 2000s and it’s odd seeing an actor who isn’t in too many movies, seeing 2 movies with him not knowingly (this and Freddy got fingered) in back to back weeks.
Neil Patrick Harris being a huge standout playing Neil Patrick Harris. I just felt like I was watching Harold and Kumar drive around and do shit. John Cho and Kal Penn really blend into their characters and I didn’t feel like I was watching them play Harold and Kumar much. I liked that it was kinda low budget and a honest charming comedy with a lot of heart and even some good commentary on race, drugs, road trips, and fast food, being mostly subtle. Good directing, good story, good acting, funny jokes, kinda quirky and different from a lot of comedies while still being an early 2000s comedy. I’d heard about this one a while back, I just thought it was a dumb 2000s comedy from a franchise with a lot of movies running out of ideas, but then I saw this on dvd and looked it up to see if it was on any streaming services and it wasn’t and I found out that it actually had good ratings and was the first in a trilogy, so I just finished watching it and I must say. I didn’t go into Goodwill looking for this movie, I just go to Goodwill a lot because I find a lot of cool hidden gems there. This is not on Disney+, or any streaming services, I had to go to Goodwill in a small Texas town to find this on dvd and buy it.
